| I think a lot of the dieticians feel that many of us T2s are not going to be willing to stick to such a strict low carb diet (and most of the T2s I know personally prove this theory to be true). I was also given the "3-4 servings of carbs/meal and 2 1 carb serving snacks" when first diagnosed. When my #s just didn't fall in line, I decided to try "South Beach Diet" which I had done in the past for weight loss...and lo and behold, my numbers changed significantly. I took metformin 500 mg twice daily until starting Byetta, and the metformin at that dose wouldn't give me the blood sugars I needed without eating low carb.
Debbie, maybe next week for your b/fast, you could leave off the english muffin and berries and see if your #s go under 140 2 hrs after breakfast....after that, you could try adding back berries with no english muffin....then muffin with no berries.
Since my morning #s are usually higher than the 110 or less goal I was given, I eat VERY low carb for bfast and it seems to set the tone for the rest of the day, as there is little or no 2 hr post meal elevation.
