All this could simply mean that, because of their genetic makeup, many people people don't become insulin resistant
in spite of their lifestyles. The incidence of insulin resistance and T2 diabetes has increased too quickly over the last 30 years for for the explanation to be defective genes. The finding of the study in question makes pretty good sense to me.
