I use the percentages for temp basals. Rarely do I go in and need to change it while its still running. Your right though, you can't go in and change it once it's going unless you cancel the first one. This isn't really a problem for me though. I suppose it could come up with a message saying "override current temp basal of x% for y minutes?" to which you'd have to accept and then continue.
