Hi

Hey folks,
My name is Sam. Last January my doc diagnosed me with Type 2 but allowed me to see if diet and exercise and weight loss would help resolve the issue. Well, I've lost about 20 lb's since then, and am working out 4-5 hours a week, but at my app't today he felt the readings, which had come down, still warranted 1000mg/day Metformin.

My question is about testing. My doc didn't say anything about it. I'm going back in a month, but mostly to check on blood pressure(also a bit of a problem), and I assume he'll order up a blood test then. But in the meantime, should I start testing myself(I purchased a kit a while back that was on sale...'course, I have no idea how to use it)? Or is it normal to be prescribed a med and not start testing right away?

Glad to have found this fourm. Thanks in advance for your opinions.
