Abdi,

Welcome to the forums, it's a great place for information. The people here are always ready to help and support you. Do tell us a bit more about you and what you are doing to manage your diabetes. Have you reduced your carb in take since being diagnosed? Carbohydrates are what will raise your numbers. I tend to avoid things like, white bread, potatoes, rice and pasta.

How often are you testing? Many of us Type 2's are told to test twice a day, when we are diagnosed, but that really doesn't help us all that much as we don't learn what foods work for us. When I joined here I learned that testing is one of the most important tools that we have.

If you are not testing regularly, I'd suggest that you step it up. Test first thing in the morning, then before each meal and two hours after your first bite of the meal. This way you will learn what foods work for you and which don't and are best avoided. Many of us aim for a fasting number of less that 110 and less than 140 two hours after first bite. I know your numbers are higher than that at the moment, but believe me if you watch your carbs, test to find what foods work, you can get to the numbers I mention. Don't forget exercise, it's another important tool in lowering and managing your numbers.

I'd suggest you get a book "The First Year: Type 2 Diabetes" by Gretchen Becker, it's very informative and easy to read.

Finally, keep visiting us here and ask lots of questions, that's how we all learn.
