Ronin, my path to this diagnoses was fairly easy, Had a baby, felt good for a few months, got real sick with a gastro-intestinal illness. Stopped puking, but never really felt good after that. Lost about 5 pounds( i am really lean to begin with)
I was at work one night, and did a fingerstick, it was over 200. I went to my doc the next day , she said that I was probebly a type 1.5 . I am very lean, I run 50+miles a week. And I never really went into dka. A initial c-peptide was low normal. been on insulin ever since. I have great control with out too much effort, between running and watching my carbs, I do pretty well. Good willing it stays this way.
