| Welcome Noni! Glad you found the forums. Its hard to get that diagnosis of diabetes, but as you can see if you read many of the posts here, it is possible to have a great life, with just a few "modifications." Right now, you're scared and stressed, which is normal....but after awhile, this will become just another chapter in your life.
There's a great book you'll see recommended here a lot for T2s..."The First Year, Type 2 Diabetes," by Gretchen Becker. It had a lot of information in an easy to read format.
I know its hard thinking of all the things you can't have....but there are lots of things you'll be able to eat, just as always.
One of the best ways to find which foods cause your blood sugars to rise is to test 2 hrs after the first bite of food. Your 2 hr reading should be 140 or less. If you test at the 2 hr point, you'll be able to make smarter food choices.
Hope you post often!
