There's a great book you'll see recommended here a lot for T2s..."The First Year, Type 2 Diabetes," by Gretchen Becker. It had a lot of information in an easy to read format.
I know its hard thinking of all the things you can't have....but there are lots of things you'll be able to eat, just as always.
One of the best ways to find which foods cause your blood sugars to rise is to test 2 hrs after the first bite of food. Your 2 hr reading should be 140 or less. If you test at the 2 hr point, you'll be able to make smarter food choices.
Hope you post often! |
I've already read that book. I got it from the library. I'm thinking about buying it for myself just to have it hear in case I need a refresher course. I'm going to ask my doctor about diabetes classes. I've got an appointment to see an eye doctor to get my eyes checked. I've got an appointment with a nutritionist. I'm trying to get all my ducks in a row so I can live and keep my sight and my feet and my life.
I just keep thinking about all the things I can't have anymore. It's driving me crazy. I hope as I get more knowledge and experience with this I'll be able to see all the things I can have and be happy with those.
