I'd appeal. It might not get you anywhere, but you never know. I've hated Blue Cross and Blue Shield for many years because their mindset seems to be to deny anything and everything with the hopes that you'll go away. I argued with them on almost every medical bill I've ever had. They've even come back a year later after paying for an MRI and saying that they were going to sue the hospital to get back the money they paid because to them the MRI looked like it might have been needed because of some sort of accident and should have been filed under a workman's comp case. I don't know who the idiot was who came up with that garbage, but I called them to cuss them out and was told that was normal procedure and that no action was going to be taken against the hospital. (the bill was legitimate, and I have never had an accident of any sort.) The fact that it was their "normal procedure" is what angered me. They sent that letter to everyone who had an MRI.

BCBS is in my opinion, nothing more that a bunch of scam artists trying to rip you off for every dollar they can get. I was so glad when my company finally got rid of them and got someone else....anyone else. If you want to argue get BCBS.
