| I don't think your 24 points is a bad increase at all, esp as you are a new diabetic and all of this is new to you. If you went from a 129 pre meal to 180 post meal, then you'd have more to worry about IMO. Try not to over-stress, you're doing well, and you've not been at this very long.
Our goal is to have our post meal and pre-meal #s be as close as possible, but depending on the food, sometimes it takes longer to get back to the pre-meal #. Some foods, such as pizza and some pastas, will have a delayed effect for me, the 2 hr is good, but the 3 hr is elevated as the fat content causes them to digest more slowly and the spike hits later. If you eat these, do check even after the 2 hr mark to get a true indication of how they affect blood sugar.
