thiamin supplement

I recently read that thiamin is beneficial in many ways so I tried taking 100mg supplements, the effects of which I find intriguing so I am trying to work out what might be going on here. Any ideas?

I am type 2 on diet only control and shortly after taking this supplement I suffer extreme mental fatigue and feel totally washed out. I have never taken anything that so consistently has such a marked effect on me, and this fatigue is very reminiscent of the mental fatigue I used to suffer when my blood sugar levels were excessively high in the past. yet it doesn't seem to be elevating my blood sugar levels.

The odd thing is apparently lack of thiamin is usually a cause of fatigue not the other way round? I have also tried taking vitamin B complex which includes 50mg of thiamin along with niacin and riboflavin etc and I don't get the same effect, and from what I read it seems it is important for thiamin to be taken in this way to be better utilised by the body, but I am still confused as to why taking thiamin on its own has such a marked effect on me?

Any ideas anyone?

Dave
