You can try salt water rinses and ask the doctor for a pain med. If not then take Tylenol every 2 hours and then Motrin every 2 hours.

No doctor will do the root canal with an infection. Heck, alot of doctors don't even pull teeth unless you have been on an antibiotic for a few days.

I can say though that even though you have pain it doesn't mean the antibiotics aren't working. I had a toothache awhile back and they did a procedure to get me out of pain while waiting for a root canal appointment. They then filled my tooth with a temporary filling. About 2 weeks later I was in so much pain that I called the dentist and said I needed to get in and just pull the tooth because I couldn't stand the pain. They put me on antibiotics that didn't help at all. Turns out I never had an infection but a piece of the temp filling went deep inside my tooth causing all the fuss.
