I signed up for some samples when I was at the AADA conference in WDC and just received them. I'm on my second set and love them. I am currently battling to find out where I can purchase them that will be "in network" with my insurance company. I don't know where funnygirl saw it mentioned that they will be sold in drugstores...I must've missed that, but that will indeed be my next step in trying to acquire them.

PROS:
Aside from the fact that they rotate and don't get hung up or as easily tangled, I have experenced other pluses.

I have been using Insets, and like others, have had problems with the insulin pooling and also with itchiness from the adhesive. The Orbit 90 adheres without having to use a Skin-Prep or Tegaderm...only an alcohol swab is necessary. I have had NO incidences of itching, redness or swelling as I have had with the previous Insets. (and I have tried the Inset 30 as well as the straight-in inset, and the manually inserted angled Inset)

It comes in a 30" length. (24 is too short, 42 is too long!)

They are planning an all-in-one unit to debut early next year (currently they are inserted manually but I have been told the can be inserted with a separate serter device)

For two days straight my basal rates have appeared to be too high...due, I surmise, to the better absorption and lack of pooling of insulin.

CONS:
Can't find a place to purchase. Animas is where I currently buy my supplies, and they have been giving me the runaround since I have asked who to contact to request that they carry this product.

I've never been one to get over the hesitation when "jabbing" a syringe. I used to place the needle directly to the skin and then PUSH. I have had a bit of difficulty trying to adjust to the manual insertion, as it does have to be a "jab" motion rather than a "push". If I can get more samples, I'll hopefully be able to practice more and maybe get over my hangup on inserting them.

Sometimes a hassle to get a script, but if you get one from your dr have him write it as "Orbit 90 infusion sets CSII therapy" and fax to 949 613 7343.

Hopefully if more people start asking about these, they'll be easier to find and purchase.
