Hi everyone

I recently failed a 2 hr. fasting glucose test. The target was under 200 and I had 220. I am 26yrs old. 135 pd 5'6" normal female.

My Dr. wants me to lose some weight (long story but I was significantly UNDERweight for a long time due to being a super athlete in high school, and he wants to see if my body thinks that weight is more "normal" for me)....

Anyway... my fasting readings are fine (usually between 82 and 105) and my 2hr post meal reading can be anywhere from 111 to 179 based on what I eat.

To me these don't SEEM high enough to fail a 2 hour fasting test, but I am only 3 weeks into this and am REALLY confused to say the least.

My dad has type 2 (diagnosed at 50yrs old, about 10 yrs ago) and my Grandpa has had type 2 for a long time (both do little to control it.

HELP! I really don't want to go down the same path as them.. with all the weight, eye, leg, attitude problems. I want to get this under control and set a better example. I don't have much info from my Dr. as he just wants me to "lose some weight, exercise... and we will retest around halloween"

I am finding my appetite hard to control (especially how to lower my carbs and eat something other than raw veggies and meat! (I hate most meats)), and feel so defeated as far as "getting back in shape" goes. Sorry if all of this information is confusing/excessive etc. I just wanted to make sure I covered the basics about me so someone might be able to help. Any advice would be useful.

I am glad I found this site, and am looking forward to learning a LOT!
