Triglyceride question

I have a question regarding triglycerides. Diagnosis a month ago, I’ve really dropped the carb intake and the few carbs I have been ingesting are of the low glycemic variety. Lantus only, starting at 10U, to 16U by midmonth, weaned down to 5U for the past week because the numbers have been good. Exercise has been minimal. I’ve dropped 14 pounds in the first month.

As far as lipids. One month ago: cholesterol 194, TG 162, HDL 38, LDL 123. Today: Cholesterol 161, TG 161, HDL 32, LDL 98.

I realize that many carb foods are low in cholesterol – and raw/steamed/cooked plant foods have none. My diet consists of a lot of animal protein, which is where you find cholesterol. Yet my cholesterol dropped nearly 20% in one month. I’ve cut out the carbs, which is supposed to be what affects triglycerides the most. Yet my TG’s remain the same. I’d almost expect the opposite to happen – A rise in cholesterol and a drop in TG.

What gives? I’m extremely pleased with the significant drops in total cholesterol and LDL. Don’t like that my HDL dropped though. But for the life of me, can’t figure out why the TG’s haven’t dropped.
