| I need to find some wood to knock on Because I feel very fortunate. Granted, it's very short term, but it feels good. Ever since Thursday, every single reading (10X per day) has been between 82-97. This is with the same 8U Lantus one time at night. The diet hasn't changed, same very low carb intake daily. But the numbers have been dropping, then steadying very nicely. And I like that I've been on a relatively low dosage of insulin to achieve this.
It seems as I stay with the low carb lifestyle and drop weight, the glucose numbers drop and then stabilize. I don't think this is a fluke because my average glucose over the past 30 days has been 99 - again, testing 10X per day. I did an "intermediate" A1c about three weeks ago - at that time, I was diagnosed for under two months, so I still had a month + of "garbage" (250+ bg) readings in there. Even then, I was excited because my A1c dropped from 10.2 to 6.4. I can't wait to see what it drops to at the beginning of December when I go in for my "official" first A1c after diagnosis.
This is why I like testing so often. I'm very competitive so I'm able to thrive on the challenge of attaining good numbers through proper food intake. Hey, whatever it takes, right?
However, it does sadden me in a way. I read everything on these forums and I see how badly some people are struggling with controlling their sugars. It has been anything but easy for me - it's taken all of my discipline and a 180 degree change in attitude/lifestyle. And I know there are others that work just as hard as I do and they still don't see the same results. That's difficult for me.
I realize for no apparent reason things can go haywire without a moments notice, but for now, I'm enjoying attaining these short term goals.
