| Cassini, glad you're feeling better!
I have to say i've been diagnosed over 2 years now and fortunately haven't had a UTI since diagnosis. I've never been prone to them though.
We see lots of ladies (and men) with chronic/recurrent UTIs in our urology practice, and most of them aren't diabetic...so take heart, just because you have one doesn't mean you'll continue with them. Sometimes women in the peri or post menopausal stages have more problems with these as well due.
Our docs suggest that women who are prone to UTIs avoid bubble baths, drink plenty of water, esp. just before and just after intercourse and if these still continue, some actually take a low-dose suppressive antibiotic to help with the symptoms. There are also cranberry supplements you can take that may help as well.
Again, drinking lots of water will help anyone suffering with UTIs. Sometimes prostatitis can also cause these type symptoms in men.
