I'm currently taking simvastatin, although I get a little concerned of the negativity the drug portrays, I for one have been taking Simvastatin for about three and half years and have not noticed any of the side effects mentioned in the leaflet.

Why my Dr put me on Simvastatin, to lower my cholesterol and other lipids fats in the blood and may help prevent medical problems caused by cholesterol such as heart disease, well!! that's good enough for me.

Most of us are aware, all drugs have side effects, some, more so than others, this of-course depends on the patient.

My learned friend BlueSky worries me at times.

Many people will try to tell you what you can’t eat with diabetes.
Most will be well-meaning.
Rather than compounding the problem by telling you what you should
eat, I’d recommend a simpler method, eat by your meter.
