Aerobics and resistance combined will give the best results. Aerobics improves the cardiovascular system improving the heart muscle. Resistance improves the rest of your muscles and muscle tone. There seems to be little or no emphasis placed on muscle tone for type 2 diabetes. Good muscle tone will burn more calories, or glucose, when your at rest than a muscle that sees little activity. Good muscle tone is with you 24 hours a day.

Bread I went without my first year. Just could not tolerate it well. Since then a whole multigrain bread once a day maybe okay some days and others send me higher than my target. Bread is not something I will eat when I am high.
