| One month later... Hi all...
Today was my one month "anniversary". I made it through Thanksgiving pretty well. We went out, and I took half of my dinner home for later. I did eat my pumpkin pie, though, and enjoyed every bite. I did have a 163 2 hours after eating, but that isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I also had popcorn at the movies, but my reading was 114 at bedtime, which surprised me.
One down side to Thanksgiving is that I started taking Metformin (500mg) that morning. My doctor started me on a low dose to see if it would help with my random high readings. I haven't been eating anything too different over the past two weeks, but I've been getting high readings all of a sudden. Unfortunately, I think the Metformin made my turkey dinner rush through me (sorry about that grossness). Otherwise, I haven't had any other side effects. We'll see how I do tomorrow when I go back to school.
Overall, my doctor has been pleased with my averages...yes, I'm keeping track of everything in a spreadsheet. Over the past 4 weeks, my averages have ranged from 110 - 123 with quite a few readings in the 160+ range.
I've also lost 8 pounds in the past month, and 20 pounds overall (since August). I'm tickled about that. My son and I have started walking, and we average 5 - 6x a week at about 2 miles a pop. Not bad for a very fluffy 47 year old. My goal is to no longer be the heaviest in my family. It's pretty sad when you outweigh your husband and two grown boys. Sigh...Oh well, it's a start.
TTFN!!
