Congratulations on managing your first month and handling thanksgiving. It gets easier the longer you are at it. Good on you for testing after dinner, there is a temption not to test when you have splurdged but you are better to do the test and learn how you got on.

Metformin can have side effects such as gastric problems (food rushing through you). It generally settles down after a little while but be aware that it can take 3-5 weeks for the full effect of metformin to be seen. Often the instruction with metformin is to take with food, however taking after food can lessen the gastric issues.

Congratulations on the weight loss, before you know the rest of the family won't be able to keep up with you when you go for a walk.
