Hey Joshua... Welcome to DF! I had to look twice when I saw the name as my son's name is also Joshua and our surname starts with a G

Cutting out sweet things was good move, also look at cutting out or at least down on starchy and sweet foods like bread, potatoes, pasta, rice, cereals and juices - your BG level will thank you for it and as you reduce the amount of sugars you eat you will find you have less cravings for it as well.

Eat plenty of green vegetables (watch the dressing for sugars) and you don't need fibre supplements!

Learn to read nutrition labels - our local supermarkets have in-house dietitians who teach label reading.

Cut down on carbs which are really just chains of sugars.
