I have Sara Lee Low Sugar whole grain breads that come in at about two slices for 16 carbs many days for lunch. That is still way below the suggested limit on carbs for lunch. I can still manage a serving of low fat chips and low carb ice cream and get a reasonable reading.

I am somewhat surprised to see the reaction of type I people, I thought us pre, or II"s were the ones that had more of a worry with carbs since many of us do not use medication or insulin.

I did notice at a fast food restaurant recently that most buns come in at 30 to 60 carbs just for the bun! So the high fiber bread is a better choice by far, but you have to watch the label. I have read the bagel label and most come in at nearly 50 carbs. Way more than I want for lunch.
