Recent T1 research suggests that beta cells regenerate for many years after the initial autoimmune attack. The problem is that these new beta cells are promptly destroyed by the ongoing autoimmune attack, so insulin production is never restored. Even if use of a hyperbaric chamber invigorated the beta cell regeneration process, more antibodies would get produced and it is unlikely that there would be a different result.

I can't comment on the T2 beta cell exhaustion issue. I have never been able to understand why beta cells don't seem to regenerate with T2s when blood sugar levels are normalised. Having said that, hyperbaric therapy is known to be effective for treating neuropathy and other diabetes related problems.
