I think you are correct that this issue will not impact every diabetic the same. Some will see no negative impact on their BG levels.

I spoke with my doctor about the Crestor/Elevated BG level issue this morning. He said some of his other patients who are either diabetic or pre-diabetic are seeing the same thing. He also said recent studies are beginning to make mention of this with people who are susceptible to blood glucose problems. However, he also said those studies and the results he sees with his patients, confirm that Crestor is extremely beneficial for diabetics IF and when it does not create a bigger problem with uncontrollable BG levels. There is no evidence yet that BG levels become uncontrollable because of Crestor. Rather, there is good evidence now that Crestor can and on occasion does, cause at least some increase in BG levels for some users.

Right now he and I agree that I should continue on Crestor but we will both watch this closely. Apparently Crestor's benefit goes beyond normal statin drug benefits of lowering cholesterol and triglycerides. He mentioned that it is beneficial to the kidneys and liver in ways they do not completely understand just yet. He referred to Crestor as having a beneficial "X" factor that makes it a great choice right now.

The question becomes can I (and others like me) adjust to the medicine and adjust our lifestyle to benefit from Crestor without suffering the possible side-effect? Right now I have the BG numbers going in the right direction with Crestor so I am satisfied for the time being.

All the best
