If you end up on insulin, I know that Dr. Bernstein recommends injecting insulin immediately upon waking up to deal with dawn phenomenon. I do not have the issue; others (who, I'm sure, will post) find that eating certain things shortly before going to bed helps them. You'll have to experiment to find out what works for you.
