That being said, I never took any drug to help out the process, and I think that those that do are incredibly stupid and short sighted. However, I do not believe the injecting of insulin is against any law, or necessarily proscribed in any way. So, although questionable, really, there is nothing wrong with it. Just because YOU have to do so to survive, does not make the use of it when not needed for life distasteful.
Mark, I agree with your sentiment, but I don't think the remarks are pointed at bobybuilders like you, but toward the "meatheads" who would do anything for that extra ounce of muscle, or that extra vascularity, etc. And that attitude pervades all sports, as we are seeing with the Balco incident in the MLB.

Some of my proudest moments came in a gym: I benched 305 pounds once, and that was quite a scene! Though even then I doubt anyone looked at me and thought "There's a buff dude".

I don't get any more offended by the professional bodybuilders who inject insulin than I do when I see "normal" people stuffing their faces with twinkies and ho-ho's. To me, both are just as ignorant.

And while I am at it, diabetics should give bodybuilding a fair shake as part of your lifestyle--the added musclemass is good for your metabolism and blood sugar maintenance, and there is something to be said about the pride you feel from pushing weight that was once too heavy for you.
