| Finally got to hook up & use my Ping So I've been staring at this thing since this Monday, and only Friday was I finally able to hook the thing up. I got tired of looking at my Cozmo's ugly mug (I'm a sucker for color screens and gadgetry, which is why I originally liked the cozmo (cause it was top of its class 5 years ago)) and am super pleased with this system so far.
It has its quirks, but I can see the reasoning behind many decisions (i.e. you have to manually enter in insulin amounts after it tells you how much to give yourself, etc), as it makes you think a lot more about that insulin you're about to inject into yourself.
I do hate the case that the tester came in, so I used my old cozmonitor's bag for the test strips & lancet and just keep the tester itself loose in my pocket and keep my pump on my hip. Before I kept the pump & tester in my pocket with the test strips and lancet, so the only change is having this fancy green thing on my hip.
I'd recommend it for folks considering a switch. I like a lot of the features it has, and I especially love this new food list it has. I apparently had such a feature with the Cozmo, but it required the Cozmo to sync properly with the computer (something it refused to do on multiple machines, which I'm going to assume was a software glitch with my pump). The rapid bolus is a little weird (I set it to "slow" and it injects a unit, waits 5 seconds, injects a unit...), but I like this system a lot!
Also, I may have gotten a batch of defective cartridges, as when I connected my infusion set to the cartridge it went on very crooked. You can see that the cartridge tip/nozzle is quite crooked as well, but so far I have not seen any leaking insulin and have had stable blood sugars since I got my other health stuff straightened out.

I don't remember before this but my A1C's were in the 5.7% area before I went to college...
These numbers should improve as I'm no longer trapped by the outrageous school/work schedules of college and will be starting a job with fantastic working conditions soon! |
