I tried the low carb/high protein diet years ago when I worked out. After being on the low carb diet, I was so tired, I could barely walk. I had no energy to do my daily aerobic classes, and actually couldn't get up off the floor to start the class one day.

The next day, I ate more carbs and I could feel the energy returning, and I felt 100% better. I think that because of my energy output, I wasn't taking in enough carbs to satisfy that need. At the time, I was working at construction, then I'd leave work, drive straight to the gym, and then do two high impact aerobics classes, back to back.

I went low carb to try and lean out, which I did, but I think I went too far and tried to lean out too much. At 6'-2", my ideal body weight should be around 225 pounds. When I went on that low carb diet, I was down to 180 pounds....way too low for me. Now, I look pathetic at 305 pounds.

As several of you have mentioned, you can't do anything to an extreme and expect to get the desired results. I now try to limit my carbs to under 100 a day and I feel fine.
