| Sliding scale for Lantus dosing? Hello all, do any of you use a sliding scale for Lantus dosing at bedtime? I've been taking Lantus at bedtime for about a month and I never seem to get any type of consistent morning blood sugar reading with the same dose. I use 8-10 units, and each waking reading is different, sometimes with hypo episodes with a dose that left me in the 110-120 range previously!
I've been basing my bedtime dose on the response to the previous night dose/morning reading, and I'm starting to wonder if it makes more sense to take a bedtime blood sugar reading and figure my Lantus dose solely on that. So, if any of you use this method, what type of sliding scale do you use based on your bedtime blood sugar reading?

-----------
Aug '09: On Januvia, 100 mg, and HbA1c up slightly to 6.7%; Endo adds nightly Lantus (10 units) to help with elevated basal blood sugars.
Oct '09: HbA1c=6.3% YEAH! Lantus is helping!
Feb '10: HBA1c holding steady at 6.2% and cholesterol numbers are best they've been in years! BUT, Endo recommends 10 mg simvastatin due to diabetes status and my father's poor cardiovascular disease history.
