What complication risk would you be referring to, Linda? I've read a lot about Lantus and there are very few if any complications I've read about yet (potential weight gain if you don't exercise being the most noted one). I haven't gained a pound and have kept losing.

Met is also supposed to reduce insulin resistance.. that is a super valuable help to keep with the Met. I remember JPS never using Met and only using Lantus -- hopefully he'll chime in.

Dx 7/15/09 - A1c 10.6 ; 10/26/09 - A1c 7.2 ; 1/20/10 - A1c 5.7
Meds: Metformin XR 500mg-2/day, Lantus 17iu 8:30am, Diovan 80mg-1/day,
Nexium 40mg-2/day, D3 2000iu, B12 2500mcg; Diet: for now, low carb:<60g/day
Weight mngm't: 288 (7/15/09) | 260 (3/4/10) | back down a total of 28 lbs
Regained 6 lbs after too high a level of insulin. Dropped in half - still good numbers.
Exercise reg: 45 min at gym 3-4x/week - cardio + weights
