I use a new lancet every time. On the very rare occassions when I haven't used a new lancet, I bruised and the area was sore. Because of this, I believe the claims and magnified pictures showing the burrs that develop with each use making it dull. Besides, lancets are cheap. Using a new lancet every time, definately isn't silly. It's just a personal preference--to each his own.
