DAFNE stands for Dose Adjustment for Normal Eating. It's basically an diabetes management education program that teaches people to adjust insulin dose to fit lifestyle, rather than having to live around a rigid, predetermined insulin regime.

Going under the slogan “Like what you eat, eat what you like,”
The above post is exactly it in a nutshell.

The name / treatment maybe new to the US, but it is certainly taking of in the UK, and europe. In any case from what I have been reading here, over the last few days, some of you seam to have odoped a kind of similar method.

I am a DAFNE graduate, and can not say a bad thing about it. I feel having diabetes, you must alway stive to pursue any new methods, advise, to helping yourself and eveyone; after all we are all in this together, so why not help each other!

I am sortly going to try to achive a greater awareness of DAFNE, and methods like it, so watch this space.

Just to answer the question from "dcoke", no you are wrong about having had advice from others, so DAFNE is not right for me. I have meet people that have been diabetics for more than 20 years, and have made suficant improvments from DAFNE. Yes it may have been hard at first, but dropping bad happbits, that perhaps have become routine, is probably the single most hardist ellement to achive, but also actually purducing the best results.
