| 1st year I know its scary and at time frustrating. Learning all you can about your condition is your best defense. For a while it would be good to keep a detailed diary of your blood glucose readings, insulin intake type and quantities of foods you eat and time. You will begin to see how 1/2 cup rice affects your blood and how 4/oz tuna affects your blood if you record each food and how much and how your before and after BG readings were. track your foods for a while and soon you will be able to judge exactly what you needs will be and how much insulin to take.
As a kid my parents taught me that diabetes is a condition - not a disease.
a disease can be cured
a condition can be managed
With proper management your life need not change. Be happy, active and remember you are not sick, you just have a manageable condition and you will do just fine. |
