This is one great place to enjoy, learn, and share. It is EXTREMELY overwhelming at the beginning of being diagnosed, but one step at a time.
I am not quite familiar if you mean you were diagnosed at 47 ml or mmol/l.
Testing will help you out a lot. What types of insulin are you on right now?
