Its not just the meds taking time to be effective, its probably also glucotoxicity. When you have high blood sugar levels for a while, you have glucotoxicity. This actually makes it harder for the beta cells in your pancreas to produce insulin - viscious cycle. Keep up what you are doing and your beta cells (at least some of them) will improve their function (those that are dead, however, are dead).
