List Of No Carb Food

Could anyone post a little list of some foods that have zero carbs in.

I have started with egg and bacon, I am not really into many vegetables or fruit but if there are some other foods with no carbs in that would be awsome.

Well,

I'm not a doctor or anything, but foods with zero carbs would be anything that is protein, fat, sodium and cholesterol. I am on hard boiled eggs with celery right now for my snacks and sometimes I change it up with Smart Balance peanut butter. Smart Balance peanut butter is made up of omega 3 and polyunsaturated fats as oppose to saturated fats so it's healthier supposedly. Omega 3 and polyunsaturated fats are supposedly good for protection against insulin resistence. For dinner, I have 3 to 6 oz of salmon with a few romaine lettuc and some almonds. It keeps me feeling full longer. Here's a good link to counting calories and nutritional facts about foods: Calorie Counter Database - Free Online Diet Program

Also, I noticed you are type 1 so you might want to check with your doctor about high protein, low carb diet, since I've recently learned about keytones and ketoacidosis.

Hope this helps,
~C

Salads (lettuce), lean meats, eggs (you already know about)most veggies. I know you said you weren't into veggies, but how about the ones you do like!! I'll often snack on raw broccoli, cauliflower, celery, cucumbers, baby carrots. (I think carrots have some carbs in them tho?) Cottage cheese isn't a NO carb food, but it is very low carb!

Fruits are not carbless!! Alot of them really work a number on our BGL's for alot of us (me included)!

One of my favorite meals is a grilled chicken salad. I buy those frozen boneless, skinless chicken brests, season one up with salt, pepper and garlic powder, fry it up on my flat iron skillet using only the non stick spray stuff, cut it up into chunks and add to my salad. I sometimes even boil an egg and slice it up and put it on there too and bacon bits if I have them (the REAL one's not those yukky fake ones! LOL)! YuM! The only carbs in there are in the salad dressing I put on it, which is Ranch for me. But it's not that many carbs, so all in all it's a very low carb, filling and delicious meal!

If you're looking for freefoods (no insulin required) you want diet pop, tea, coffee, mushrooms, celery, and sugar free jello.

Well it sounds like I'm doing the right thing. Most of what I eat and drink are coffee, celery, and sugar free jello, but I thought mushrooms turned into sugar. Also, does anyone know if fat is converted into sugar? Cheese is in the fat group and wanted to know if I can snack on that for a change as well.

Here's a good source of info on how different foods affect bg.

Pork rinds have 0 carbs...good when you need something crunchy and they come in BBQ flavor and salt & vinegar flavor.

Sparrow is right. Just about anything you put in your face turns to sugar in your body. There are a very very few free foods, but they are not good for you. Bacon and eggs most certainly turn to sugar in your body when you eat them. Protein just does it slower and more evenly without the spikes you will find with high glycemic foods. Bacon and eggs are ok in moderation, but you will end up with arteries that need to be bypassed or have stents. I am thinking you should think about healthy foods as alternatives to things you can eat without raising your blood sugar as much. Food is fuel. Good food is high test fuel.

if you're low carbing, it would take a bushel of cauliflower or brocoli for those carbs to hurt you. You need to have some carbs, just not the bad ones. Every dietician i've talked to says to limit the eggs (forget about bacon, that's a loaded gun) to 3-4 week due to the high cholestoerol. I don't even have high cholesterol either.

Nuts are very low in carbs, and high in fiber too.

Since my Doc set me up with a Dietician, she said I can only have three eggs a week and to use the egg beaters for everything else. She said no bacon, or fatty meats, since my cholesterol is high, but turkey bacon, turkey sausage, and I got a box of turkey burghers that I haven't tried yet.

I know she said to make cualiflower like mashed potatoes for a substitute for the potatoes.

Don't know if this helps or not. I'm just learning too.

Question not a diabetic/but borderline.

I was informed by my doctor that I am borderline diabetic. I also have hypothyroidism. My doctor says that I need to stay away from the carbs/or go low carb because for me and my system. Carbs will just make me gain weight, Plus being Hypo I will gain weight faster and a lot if I continue eating carbs. So I need to know of a book that will tell me what foods to eat that are no carb/low carb without causing me harm. I am already taking medication for the Hypo. but not yet for diabetes. because I am not diabetic yet. But if I don't get the weight off I will be. So I am in a fight for my health. Also if you can help me with a list of foods that I am able to eat that are lowcarb/no carb.

Thanks.

Only under extreme conditions. If your body is converting protein to glucose you have worked out way to much or are starving. Under most conditions protein does not effect blood sugar. If I eat a meal without carbs in it my bg will be lower then when I started and this I have proved through testing time and time again. Science goes from theory to fact when it can be repeated.
