I love mushy peas , especially with fish and chips (fries). Although Marrowfat peas that must be soaked overnight, would have been more popular in Ireland.

I also love refried beans, although my Daughter who won't try them (unusual for her) because of the look alone, can't understand why I put something that looks like canned dog food on my plate!
Gawd I hate mushy peas ... they taste foul! Frozen garden peas cook faster, taste better and have much more nutrients.

I love re-fried beans ... have home-made Texmex regularly enough ... very little carb load

You know what..? I bet mushy peas would be great with either of these [/quote]

This is what we call a "hotshot". Can be chicken or leftover Thanksgiving turkey . We have had them with leftover beef too. You make a sandwich on white bread, cut it diagonal, seperate the two sides and put a big glob of mashed potatoes between them, and cover it all with gravy!

mmmmmmm spotted dick and custard, rice pudding, bread 'n' butter pudding. All good stuff (in small amounts of course). The Scottish have a delightful thing called deep fried, batterd pizza, i think its proper name tho is a "heart attack". They also do a saveloy( sausage type thing with more calories than anything you can think of) wrapped in kebab meat, dipped in batter and deep fried mmmmmmmmm lovely (not)

mmm, all that British food in that aisle is making me hungry. Seriously! I really miss all that good stuff.

Ever since I moved to the States... all 21 years ago!... I have not been able to prepare a decent beans-on-toast meal. The beans here are all too sugary. I can always search for a tin of beans in the local British shop, but it's out of my way...and expensive for 1 tin of beans! Plus the bread here is too sugary and it just doesn't taste right. And can anyone find potato waffles in the states? I love my beans on them too.

Battered Mars bar. Yum.
