Well, I went off my "plan" tonight

I rebelled tonight and decided to eat pizza. Due to the carb count and that the Bloodtype diet says pizza is a no-no for my type, I still had it.

My co-worker ordered (at my request) a thin and crispy Pizza from Pizza Hut. It had mushrooms and black olives on it.

Despite the tomato sauce and olives (both are no-no with my blood-type) I had TWO slices for a total of around 40+ grams. I hope I didn't blow my sugar levels too badly. I've been well in the normal range of FBG and after meals for the past month so I figured this one time (maybe a once a month thing) won't be a big deal. What do you all think?

If I were to eat pizza, I would pick exactly what you had . . . maybe add some jalapenos! Pizza is a "food" I got so burned out on, I'll never actually want it again. Every business meeting and training session, etc. for years . . . pizza was always the "free lunch" - I almost hate the stuff.

I don't "cheat". Cheating once only leads me to cheat again, and again. I've tried the once a week or once a month "treat" and it just doesn't work for me. When I blow it, I blow it big, then go on about my business doing things the "right" way!

That is exactly why I cut all sugars out of my diet because if i get to cheat once then i will want to do it again . what would be the point ? it just blows your blood sugar and then you spend the rest of the time feeling guilty and bad about cheating .

Felinefan,

There must have been a full moon last night!

I have been struggling over the past 2-3 days to stay on the wagon, last night I jumped off briefly. My dinner was fine, but afterwards I was really getting a craving to "be bold", I eventually relented, declared to my wife "Did I tell you my diabetes was cured this afternoon?", naturally this came as a surprise to her and I explained "Well, it must have been because I'm having a slice of chocolate cake, I may well have a relapse of the diabetes in the morning, but for now I'm cured!"

I had a small piece of cake, enjoyed it went to be and woke up this morning with diabetes again, but **** I can handle it!

I'm not feeling guilty, I needed to do what I did, I have it out of my system, my FBG this morning was only marginally higher that normal and now I'm back on the wagon feeling re-energised and motivated.

My advice is not to feel guilty, just enjoy what you had and jump back on the wagon.

David, I almost spit coffee on my computer screen reading this. Thank you for the chuckle this morning.

Of course you can splurge occaisionally.

As for the blood type diet, in my opinion it's a crock.
Has anyone tried the Blood Type Diet?

Happy to make you smile, I accept no responsibility for coffee being expelled onto your computer!

XMenace,

It's no suprise to me that many people think this diet is bull****. BUT, tell that to my father (a type 2) who had blood sugars in the high 300's at diagnosis, went on this "diet" and now his sugars are fairly stable most of the time.

I will have to look into the whole lectin thing a bit closer but overall, the diet seems to have worked miracles for many people who went on it.

I am on it, HOWEVER, I am taking it one step further by also watching my carb intake. For example, bananas are supposed to be a highly beneficial for me (my dad too and he still eats them) but I won't because they are high on the glycemic index.

But, I am not supposed to eat wheat (with the exception of sprouted, live wheat like Ezekiel bread), corn, chicken, etc. I have cut those things almost competely out and let me tell you, my digestive track has been MUCH happier since doing so. I think wheat and corn were huge problems for me that now are resolved by not eating them.

Again, you and others might be right, this diet could be a crock, but I'm not going to argue with the thousands of people in his studies (which shows the agglutination process) or with the thousands who have read his book and tried his way of eating. As long as I continue to watch my carbs, portion sizes, and sugars, I'm sure his diet will be fine.
