Fiber Count

Still new to this carb counting and would like some help?

With the multi-grain oatmeal I had this morning for breakfast, when counting the total carbs I know to subtract the dietary fiber, but do you also subtract the soluable and insoluable fiber (sorry if the spelling isn't quite on, my eyes are still too bad to rip through the dictionary ) ?

According to the recommendations of the Amer. Diabetes Assoc, they say not to subtract the fiber count unless it is 5 grams or more.

Every diabetic is different. I'm a type 1 pumper and I NEVER subtract the fiber from anything that I eat......even if it's over 5g.

I generally stick to subtracting all fiber if my total consumption will exceed 4 or 5 grams. I don't pay attention to soluable/insoluable... I haven't even noticed packages listing them both, shows how close I pay attention.

Thanks! Stupid me, I believe that the total dietary fiber is made up of both the soluable and insoluable..
