| | Hey I have done that too and looked at the meter and it read 3.1 / 55.8 and bolused hard!! like 30U and again an our later.
When I had finnished and 2 hours later I was 7.7 / 138.6. I thought I would OD on the insulin and I was OK.
So testing is the way to go.

| | | Awesome!
It's a valuable test. It's a good way to identify basal gaps. You must feel pretty good about your rates. |

| | | Pizza was pepperoni; 6 hours (about now) was 137. Still nothing to be concerned about, correction bolus. I feel pretty confident I could eat two pies at some point, although that would be 74 units!

Was this a fast food type pizza (Dominos, Pizza Hut etc)? I actually think I could eat an entire one of those and cover it okay, but I have trouble with "real" NYC pizza. The last time I had it was maybe 2 years ago. I had two plain slices and taking the fat and protein into account, I decided I'd bolus for 200g of carbs (even though I know there weren't that many actual carbs in it). I did a dual wave bolus and it was the first time I ate NYC pizzeria pizza without crashing low and then going high later.
They were big slices!

Yeah it was a private pizza shop, not a chain, and the pieces are pretty big...I just took 4 units per slice, and it worked perfectly!

You make me look like a low-carbohydrate eater; my post-DX record is 300 g in one meal. Interestingly enough, I've also observed very steady postprandial numbers... although such gluttonous escapades mean I need to take some supplemental basal (detemir) at mealtime.
Congratulations!

Congratulations! | funny you say that, i had a ridiculously greedy day yesterday; my TDD was 25 compared to the usual 14 or 15 - a LOT off food, and today, despite rigourous exercise my carb ratios are up.....but tomorrow i have endurance swim in cold water so i skipped my 6 units lantus tonight and upped my NPH to 4 so im clear for the morning..........interesting stuff...........
