Low Carb Breakfast Other Than Eggs?

I'm trying to cut way back on my carb intake and it's clearly helping me control my BGs.
For Breakfast I've had eggs, eggs, eggs and spam.(I don't like spam!) I'd like a little variety beyond switching the spam for sausage etc.
What things, other than eggs, to you low carb folks eat for breakfast?

Thanks,
~Tommy

No sugar added yogurt does really well for me. It has 12 carbs BUT I think something in the yogurt cultures (or something) negates most of the effect of those carbs. It doesn't effect my blood sugar much if at all.

One of my favorites, is a low carb tortilla with Peanut butter and a teaspoon of honey and a dolop of cool whip. It's about 20 carbs, but it is super satisfying, and sweet. ( i love sweets!) Well actually I love Cool whip.

I tend to have cheese with a bit of fruit, but I'm an on-the-go person in the morning and almost never bother to cook anything

What about some cold cuts of meat such as baked ham? As Amanda says cheese is another option - I'm like Amanda and I would rarely "cook" in the morning.

My favorite breakfast is 1/4 cups each black beans, diced tomatoes, egg beaters or 1 egg, dollop fat free sour cream, 1 slice low carb cinnamon toast. The fibre is great, does not raise GL more than a few points. Lasts a long time. Enjoy!

That adds up to 45 grams of carbohydrates by my calculations.

That is not a "low carb" meal by some definitions!

I am low glycemic/ good carbs so I usually have my whole grain cereals.
Breakfast may be the meal where you carb up a bit. You have a full day to work them off. Make dinner low carb with the protein and fat taking longer to digest.
This works for me. But not everyone. But if you are on the go you usually don't have time to properly cook low carb

I sometimes drink the protein drinks for b/fast. EAS Carb-Advantedge (available at Walmart) are quite good.

Also, nothing saying you have to have b/fast foods for b/fast. Have something else low-carb that you would enjoy at another meal...i've had all kinds of meats for b/fast when i've gotten tired of eggs.

A good egg dish however is this one you can bake in a muffin tin, then freeze until you use them up. 6 eggs, salt and pepper to taste, green peppers, cheese, mushrooms (whatever veggies, cheese or meat you enjoy)....fill greased muffin tin 1/3 way full, bake at 350 x 25 minutes.

If I only had 6g for breakfast my BG would drop like a rock below 60. Eating 20g for breakfast leaves my BG between 80 and 90 until lunch. If I'm going to exercise in the morning I have to eat at least another 20g.
I have 90 - 100 g carbs everyday, so not Bernstein standards but lower carb for me.

TommyC1,

There are tons of things that are very low carb that you can have for breakfast, but often the tradeoff is between time, convenience and cost. I know eggs can get kinda old after a while and you may just not want to throw more meat on the griddle.

Let me suggest that you think about how to address some of these other tradeoffs to get some variety. Why don't you spend an hour or two on the weekend preparing breakfast items that can be quickly reheated or finished during the week. Here are some suggestions.

Low carb no crust quiche - I like sausage, feta and spinach. You can freeze and reheat this.

Almond flour pancake mix

Flax - low carb muffins, freeze this as well

Finally, you don't have to limit yourself to eating breakfast menu's at breakfast. You can cook whatever you please, like salmon in garlic butter with asparagus.

ps. I also do the protein shake for first breakfast as well. My real breakfast is second breakfast.

Try a steak. For some, a hamburger steak or t-bone or whatever kind is a reasomable option. There are many ultra-low carbers that eat only meat. Many eat a high fat hamburger for breakfast. They use the cheap high fat content hamburger grinds not the lean grinds.
Concerning Eggs: I am the house cook and my experience has been that only properly scrambled eggs can be eaten day after day. It requires some skill to properly scramble eggs. My wife cannot scramble an egg she will eat herself but will eat my scrambled eggs day after day. Some simple things are not so simple. I won't eat her scrambled eggs either, thats why I do the cooking.
Most days I have only heavy cream for breakfast in my coffee. Heavy cream is like rocket fuel pure fat (9 cal/gm). It does not take a glass full of cream to feel full.
