Pita Panini!

So I ADORE Panera's panini sandwiches -- especially the Smokehouse Turkey! But at 80g of carbs for one sandwich, it is SO not worth it anymore.

So my husband and I were out grocery shopping today and I decided to do an experiment with some sale items. Wow did it turn out well! My husband declared me the Sandwich Master, and my friend who was over actually got on her knees and did the "we're not worthy!" bow.

And the entire thing is only 15g of carbs.

Ingredients:
- 1/2 a pita (I use regular, but you can drive the carb count down moe by using low-carb)
- sliced turkey
- sliced swiss
- hot & sweet mustard

Directions:
- Spread mustard on both sides of the pita pocket
- Place swiss on both sides of the pita pocket
- Stuff the inside with turkey
- Place the stuffed pocket in a panini press or Foremann grill until cheese is nicely melted
- Use spatula to take out pita.
- Enjoy!

I actually can't get this pita panini out of my head. I'm planning on pre-making them, then giving them a little nuke at work for lunch during the week. Healthy and yummy!

Sounds great! Next time I shop, I'm picking up the supplies. Thanks!

Thumbs up

I love sandwiches. LOVE. lol.. I make them all the time..all different ones, but I use a "sandwich maker" opposed to a panini press. I keep wondering if I want a press.. I think I do

I'm glad I'm not the only low-carb sandwich monger around
