Wth???

I know I have to watch my morning carbs; everything sends my sugar up sky high. I usually just fast until 10 or 11 when it's safe, but this morning I was STARVING! I decided that some bacon, while not enough, would help balance out some carbs. I got some bacon from the cafeteria, and a tiny (90 cal) breakfast bar. It had 18 carbs in it. I bolused, then ate the bacon, then the bar. And check this out:

8:40: time of bacon/bolus/bar. Sugar is 160. (am working on fixing overnight basals)

9:05: Sugar is 249. I want to THROW UP.

I am SO upset right now -- and so sick. Now that most of my sugars are normal, I can't handle anything over 200 anymore.

How could this happen so quick?

I'm sorry! I know it's frustrating. Last night, I just knew my sugars were going to be high this morning. I was going to take some insulin before I went to bed last night just to be sure I wouldn't be but fell asleep before I could. I could have tried to kill myself...fasting this morning was 66. I can't figure this thing out either...it's hit or miss and miss bad.

Amanda, I have this problem often....18 carbs when I am already high, would send me to well over 200. I have figured out I cannot have any carbs until I have my numbers down. I always am hungry in the mornings, and eggs or bacon don't seem to help with that, but usually I can have some carbs by lunchtime.

I am like Penny, and many others. That same 18 carb breakfast bar with a starting bg of 100 wouldn't have shot me up so high (especially if later in the morning). That's why my goal is to not eat until I have a good bg. I know it's not recommended, or ideal, but I don't eat "breakfast" until 11am or later. It's easy for me though, I've never been a morning eater . . . just tea or coffee.
