Tator Chips/Crisps??

Does anybody have a way to count potato chips/crisps and not have your B/G jump in the 200/11-12 range?

I usually eat the low fat ones or fat free ones and count out what a serving is then put up the bag.....if not then I tend to munch too many and can't count the carbs correctly.

I like the original Lays product, which is something like 20 chips to 15 carbs. While I have trouble eating just one, by the time I get to 20 I have usually had enough.

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm! Can't resist.

The counting part does not affect my bg's. It's putting them in my mouth that does the trick. :smartass:

RZR, aren't you on MDI? Best to figure the correct bolus ratio for this food and then dose accordingly. May be trial and error discovering the ratio!

IMHO, the ones to eat that don't throw me much are baked lays.

Cheers!

Thanks for all the replys.

What I Should Have Said

I have trouble with B/G going through the roof even if I eat half the recommended serving size and cover the a stated amount of carbs.

Example: I count out 15 carbs worth and inject to cover 30 carbs. All else being equal, my 2 hr post meal reading still tends to be in the 200/11-12 range.

I was trying Not to take chips completely off my list of foods.....but......

Well, there's always further refining your ratio for chips, but anything that requires that much manipulation and calculation can't really be good for you, I guess!

RZR, what chips/what brand? I have found that the nutrition label on Lays seems to work well for me.

RZR, are you eating these chips as a stand alone snack? How frequently are you having chips?

I have chips ONLY with tuna salad sandwiches.

When I eat Fritos and count them out, "No Worries." When I eat Any potato chips, B/G through the roof. I have to bolus extra 2 hours later even with covering them double.

Never was that big on potato chips to begin with, so I'll have to make sure that wife or I have Fritos when it's Tuna salad night.

Potato-products used to kill me when I was MDI, but the pump has made life with potato products more bearable...
