Need to gain weight

Because of other health issues one of my Doctors said that he wants me to gain weight and is putting me on a weight gain prescription. My other issue is that I have non-alcoholic pancreatitus so I need a relatively low fat diet. My question is what do you eat? My solution has been to add some carbs and bolus Humalog. What other options do I have? Thanks.

Add protein instead of carbs.

You might want to use nuts as a snack food. Loaded with calories, a good balance of (good) fats, protein while still maintaining relatively low carbs but with some fiber.

Eat a high amount of calories every day and you will put on weight. Increase your carb and protein intake since you have to avoid fat.

Is it just "weight" you need or are you low in lean mass and/or fat mass?

I have Cancer and my Doctor is concerned with my weight so he doesn't much care if it is lean muscle mass or just plain body mass. Thanks

I am sorry about your diagnosis of cancer, gary. If you are dealing with colon cancer, adding protein might not be your best option. Your doctor may just want you to do the best you can with your diabetes and add carbs to your diet for now.

Nope, I'm dealing with prostate cancer and after conversations with my oncologist and endocrinologist it seems like I'm going to go and increase the fats in my diet as well as my lantus. It seems like the med the oncologisty put me on to gain weight has been exaggerating the effect of carbs on my BG.
