Anyone have some advice? I've been GD for five pregnancies, and have just discovered two weeks ago that I am expecting our sixth. I have been in the process since April of this year getting my blood sugars to stay in a normal range. I noticed in March that my fasting numbers were rising over 100 when I ocassionally checked them. I've lost 30lbs. and am now a normal weight. I exercise 3-4 times a week and have been eating a low carb (30 or so a day) diet since April. I could go on quite happily like this and have seen good results. My at home A1C just read 5.3 two days ago.
Now things are suddenly different. My fastings are going up to 110 or so every morning and post meal readings are also higher - though still just in the normal range. I'm doing what I've been doing all along. I realize that hormones are making it harder for my body to do what it needs to do ( with some low-carb/exercise help from me, of course). Is there anything else I can do this early to help myself out?
How soon should I go to the doctor? I usually wait until after two months, but am wondering what my blood sugars will look like if I wait that long? My OB wanted my fastings not over 90 with my last baby and I was put on insulin later in the pregnancy. My babies have all been right at 8lbs. but I never had blood sugar issues this early on in my previous pregnancies. Not that eager to go on insulin - and at this point I'm fearful of going on it and not getting off. Anyone else have that unfounded fear???
I'm feeling pretty lost right now - what works just yesterday doesn't work today, and some little someone is counting on me. Thanks for any advise.
