| | | Strange feeling in toes Hello,
I can't seem to find much information on this. I have this strange sensation, primarily in my big toes, and can sometimes be felt in some of the smaller toes on the right foot. I must stress that it is NOT painful in the slightest, nor can it be described as numb or tingly. It's a light, dull-feeling sensation--the best approximation I can think of is like the pressure from having something like a ribbon loosely tied around the toes. It can be quite annoying when trying to sleep, but it's generally tolerable during the day.
The feeling is "tighter" (but still not painful) when my diabetes is poorly managed.
I don't know if this is relevant, but I've only had one actual "pain episode" in a period where I was eating extremely poorly; the left side of my left foot felt like it was burning, and at the peak of the whole thing, it cramped up (at least, I think it did).
I once brought the dull sensation up with my doctor, but he seemed confused. From all the information I've tried gathering, this doesn't seem to fit the with the classic sensations of diabetic neuropathy; none of the sensations I've read about sound like an accurate description of what I'm feeling. Maybe it just wants to affect me differently for some reason?
I don't know what else it could be, though... |

| | | I think it could be a circulation problem.
I understand how you feel. since diagnosis and right before - I hav had many feet sensation issues. I had a couple toes just sort of numb before diagnosis. after dx, when my blood sugar was controlled. I had more, numbness got worse, tingling, fuzzy feeling. worm crawling feeling. too hot too cold, and developed raynaud sydrom, so at times they would turn blue.
well, bs has been under good control now for a year, the raynauds is gone, most of these things are gone. except my feet don't feel temperature right still. in cold, I get a vague numbness, working out, the get tooo hot feeling. its wierd.
but mostly things are better.
so keep good control. I had some wierd nerve issues when I brought my ac down and kept it there. strange.
but it must be mostly good.

I don't know what else it could be, though... | I have that too, first two toes on LH foot. I just figure it is poor circulation. When I work out my toes fall asleep, but that strange feeling is gone after I am done so that is how I conclude for me it is circulation. But, what do I know?

| | | Sounds to me that you are on the edge of neuropathy problems, as evinced by the fact things get worse with worse control. I wouldn't buy into the doc's hesitation: ask to see a specialist if you want to follow it up medically. Otherwise, my question would be, can you tighten control? I've had these issues, with ordinary control, and much better control virtually negated them. The body has an amazing ability to heal, and there seems to me to be a wide band of "healable" peripheral neuropathy if you improve control and circulation. That's a comment based on my experience and observation, it's not a medical comment. Again, see the right specialist, if you want to follow it up medically.
I also wonder if your shoes are contributing. I would try different shoes, socks, or the like, and see if the ribbon effect changes or goes away.

CrisV could it be toe jam? ha ha ha. Only joking buddy, feeling pretty good this morning for some reason, maybe cause its Friday. Once in a while my feet used to kill me and my loving sister bought me a vibrating foot massage. After 2minutes of use I was in hog heaven. GOODLUCK and good to hear from you. Let us know what happens please. | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
