What Do You Do When You Feel a Hypo Approaching?

I was wondering what you guys have found best to eat/drink when you start to feel a hypo coming on?

I'm told something like regular coke is good, followed up by some carbs (?)

Thanks

It depends on what level I am. If I'm in the 70-80s, then I'll just eat a cookie or two, some generic carbs, or lower my pump for 30 minutes.

If I'm lower than that, then I'll find something to drink or eat candy/cookies that have lots of sugar carbs.

Lucozade. I've also fallen into the trap of using a hypo as an opportunity to eat chocolate, which I really need to stop doing.

LOL... Ummm Me 2!
I Test to see where Im at, from there I see how far my next meal is, if I was just about to eat, then eat, if not, Id take the coke or what ever I have closer to me (candy, tabs). I try to keep the 15 carb rule, but it is a bit tough when u r feeling weak. I try to "eyebal"l whatever it is that Im using to recover from the HYpo.

I eat jelly beans. I like them, so why not eat something you like. I test and depending on sugar level I eat 4 to 8 jelly beans and that does it. Was drinking orange juice when it happened at home but got burnt out on it.

ahhh Coke is CARBS

I have a slice of whole wheat bread with peanut butter, if I'm out I do glucose tabs and find someplace where I can get some protein. If I don't have protein with carbs when I go hypo I just hypo again a little while later.

Lucozade if UK. Or Glucose Tabs. Just one should sort it out. Only have a few gulps of a normal bottle of lucozade too as REALLY puts sugars up.

Just always have something like tabs (if a guy as easier to carry) or grab a lucozade. I always have one in the car, one in handbag! Or tabs of glucose - lucozade or Dextrose.

No Life savers here unfortunately but orange juice good - lucozade is pure glucose drink though and brilliant if need a very quick result!

Wonder why not in US? been over and no equivalent which is odd as you are usually first for things like this??

There's usually a bottle of lucozade in the fridge & a kit kats or two. I have lucozade tablets everywhere...in my bag, on my bedside table, in the car etc.

Wow you could be on Big Brother soon then....he he

Sugary drinks followed by a complex carb here or like some others chocolate which works on 2 levels, it raises sugar and is a comfort food.

If I think I might be close to an insulin reaction I try to check my blood sugar first. If it hits too hard, I'll grab the first thing with sugar I can get my hands on. I usually carry glucose with me and keep a Coca-Cola nearby and will go for one of those if I have to.
