I'm assuming that everyone who has the dots wipes with alcohol after they pull blood? I was told that the alcohol after tends to react with the clotting or whatever the natural "stop bleeding" mechanism the body does with a hole so small, the isopropyl alcohol reacts with the exposed cells around the "ridges" . I stopped wiping with alcohol after and became black dot free and callous (sp?) free. give it a try.

i'm sure we were all taught to drench it in alcohol, but at one point we all thought that it was sugar that was the key to control too

I never use alochol swaps anymore. Most times, it's stick, test, and suck!

I get them on the pads of my fingers, but I don't give 'em a thought. Since I don't use the sides, they are pristine. I have only one prominent black spot, currently. Consider them freckles. <g>

Me too, and I was told not to use them or alcohol because it dries the skin.
